Council Check: West Yorkshire Metro

This week, we take a look at how Metro promotes bus travel in West Yorkshire on behalf of that county's city and borough councils.

Where do the buses go?

A series of maps cover the whole county. 5 out of 5.

Timetables for all bus routes in the county can be found here. 5 out of 5.

Details of multi-operator and multi-modal tickets can be found here. Plusbus is also mentioned. All that is missing are details of single-operator tickets and of course any information about single ticket prices. 3 out of 5.

Excellent maps and timetable provisions, let down by incomplete fares information. Nevertheless, Metro West Yorkshire scores a total of 13 out of 15.

  1. 84 jobs to go as Padarn Coaches in Gwynedd closes

Padarn Buses, which runs operates routes from Bangor, Caernarfon, Llanberis and across to Beaumaris on Anglesey, said services would cease at midnight on Friday.

The announcement comes a day after North Wales Police confirmed they were investigating allegations of fraud at the company.

A woman, 28, and a man, 44, have been arrested.

A spokesman for the family-run firm, which is based at Llanberis, said the closure was as a result of losing contracts following the announcement of the police inquiry.

The Welsh government said on Thursday that it would work with Gwynedd council to minimise any disruption to passengers from any service withdrawals by the company.

Padarn Coaches is one of the largest bus operators in the county and was set up 25 years ago and runs local bus services, school coaches as well as private hire vehicles.

The company also runs the popular Snowdon Sherpa bus routes linking villages around some of the most popular tourist walks around Snowdon

  2. Full Padarn story here:

  3. The current situation with Pardarn is most service are operating reasonably normally but may be some cancellations as some drivers have already gone

As of tomorrow it is not planed that these services will operate

The services below are planned to have some kind of service from Saturday

  4. Those maps could be a lot easier for normal humans to understand, I wouldn't give them 5/5.
